Evangelist Billy Graham took Christ literally when He said in Mark 16:15, “Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.”

Mr. Graham preached the Gospel to more people in live audiences than anyone else in history—nearly 215 million people in more than 185 countries and territories—through various meetings, including Mission World and Global Mission. Hundreds of millions more have been reached through television, film and webcasts.

Billy Graham began connecting young people with the Gospel in the 1940s as one of several Youth for Christ evangelists who preached in youth rallies across the country. Throughout his ministry, Graham constantly leveraged the leading edge of technology, from radio and print journalism to satellite television and the internet in order to speak timeless truths to the mercurial interests of the next generation.

The 1957 Billy Graham Crusade in New York City was scheduled to last six weeks but went on for 16 weeks, from May 15-Sept. 1. More than 2 million people saw Billy Graham preach the Gospel that summer in the heart of the Big Apple.

“When I arrived at the airport, Mr. Graham himself was waiting for me. I expected to be chauffeured in a Rolls Royce or at least a Mercedes, but we got in his Oldsmobile and he drove it himself. I couldn’t believe he came to the airport driving his own car. When we approached his home, I thought he would live on a thousand-acre farm, and we drove up to this house made of logs.No mansion with crystal chandeliers and gold carpets, it was the kind of a house a man of God would live in. I look up to him.“

"I ask my children and grandchildren to maintain and defend at all hazards at any cost of personal sacrifice the blessed doctrine of complete Atonement for sin through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ once offered, and through that alone. I urge all of you to walk with the Lord in a life of separation from the world and to keep eternal values in view," he states. The evangelist urges his family to read the Bible on a daily basis and to trust in Jesus Christ as the means to salvation.
